Not in the generator: you label people your own way, and your answers stay in your browser rather than reaching a server. A PESEL number is not required in the will itself either, but the heir has to be identified in a way that leaves no doubt about who you meant.
Two different questions in one
It helps to separate the tool from the document.
In the generator you describe people your own way, for example “my daughter Anna”, and the draft contains placeholders in square brackets. You enter the real details by hand only when you copy the document out. We do not ask for PESEL numbers, account numbers or passwords, and your answers stay in your browser.
In the finished will the rules do not require a PESEL number. They require something else: that the content makes it possible to establish unambiguously whom you are appointing as heir.
What “unambiguous identification” means
A court or a notary has to be able to point to a specific person without guessing. “To my daughter” is enough if you have one daughter. “To my nephew Piotr” becomes risky when there are two Piotrs in the family. A safe set is a first name and surname plus one distinguishing element: the degree of kinship, a date of birth or a place of residence.
A PESEL number is a convenient shortcut to that unambiguity, but not the only one. A will without a PESEL number is valid; a will with unclear identification of a person can be the source of a dispute lasting years.
What not to put in a will
After death a will becomes a document seen by a wider circle of people than during your lifetime. It is a poor carrier for passwords, access codes, full account numbers or recovery phrases for crypto wallets. That information belongs in a secured place, opened separately and on your terms.
