You’re planning to grow your family
The decision to grow your family is not only emotions and practical preparations, but also formal matters.
As early as the pregnancy stage we should put together a set of documents that ensures health, financial and legal security - for both the future parents and the child.
From the expert
„The decision to grow your family is more than emotion - it is also a stage that calls for documents, planning and safeguards. These things strongly affect the comfort and security of the whole family."
A list of documents and materials worth preparing
As originals and as digital copies.
- 1 The pregnancy record book - together with current test results and the attending doctor’s recommendations
- 2 Medical records of both parents - information about chronic illnesses, blood type, allergies and medications taken
- 3 An insurance policy covering your closest family
- 4 A will taking into account the specifics of a conceived and minor child (it should not be an heir, given the need for guardianship-court consent)
- 5 A marriage certificate, if the parents are married, or the parents’ individual birth certificates if they are in an informal relationship
- 6 A childcare agreement with the person who is to help with matters after the birth
- 7 The child’s passport or ID card (to be obtained after birth)
- 8 The child’s first photo or recording from the ultrasound
- 9 Contact details of a person who could take over care if both parents are absent or die
- 10 As the child grows, it’s worth saving documents related to nursery, kindergarten or education
