You’re in an informal, partner relationship
In informal relationships, unlike marriage, there is no presumption of joint property or statutory right to decide on a partner’s affairs.
That is why every more significant arrangement - concerning property, health or children - should be documented. The lack of formal regulation means that only properly prepared documentation protects both sides, both during the relationship (e.g. in financial settlements) and in the event of a break-up or sudden events requiring unusual action.
From the expert
„Polish law still does not regulate informal relationships with the clarity it gives to marriages. In this practice, informal partners often do not stand on the side of legal protection, so it’s worth acting in advance - contracts, wills and powers of attorney become the basis of security in such situations."
